This renovation project by Studio Boud was featured in The Art of Living, the leading magazine for high-end living and interior architecture in the Netherlands and Belgium. The editors highlighted how interior architect Ron van den Akker transformed a dated villa into an atmospheric dream interior — preserving its monumental character and tailored entirely to its residents.
The clients lived in a beautiful location, but the layout and atmosphere of their villa no longer suited their stage of life. Rather than moving, they opted for a thorough transformation — giving Studio Boud carte blanche. The result is an open, logically arranged ground floor where spaciousness, natural materials and refined craftsmanship come together.
The design is defined by its noble materials: a terrazzo-look poured floor, a fireplace surround and cabinetry clad in exclusive Alphenberg leather, bronze-toned joinery combined with dark wood, and a floor-to-ceiling wine cabinet of bronze-tinted glass with a bronze mirrored wall as its centrepiece. Two water vapour fireplaces and an invisibly integrated ventilation system bring the comfort up to contemporary standards, without compromising the monumental ceiling height.
