We regularly share in this blog all the ins and outs about interiors and the projects we are currently working on in the broadest sense of the word. This time the topic is about our project in Veldhoven where a beautiful detached villa is completely renovated.

Beautiful detached Villa renovation with a Hotel Chic interior

This detached villa was in urgent need of a makeover. After an extensive search for alternatives, the current owners decided to upgrade their home as they cherish the location.

Initial Meeting

From the first meeting, there was an instant connection between the client and Studio Boud. After an introduction to the studio’s concept and a discussion of the client’s preferences, the project was commissioned. Remarkably, the client granted us ‘carte blanche’ with some directional input on their tastes. For any interior designer, ‘carte blanche’ is a dream scenario yet comes with great responsibility.

Design Process

Studio Boud embarked on the design, initially presenting three layout proposals for the villa, integrating the new extension while keeping the space inviting and cozy. Spacious areas often present acoustic challenges, which we addressed by incorporating acoustic panels beneath the kitchen island bar in Alphenberg suede, among other solutions. We also recommended an acoustic ceiling to enhance comfort discreetly, without altering the look of a standard ceiling.

Following the layout presentation, the client made their choice. Studio Boud advised on window arrangements and added a skylight in the extension and outdoor terrace. The final design reflects the currently popular hotel chic style, a blend of refinement, luxury, and comfort inspired by upscale hotel ambiance.

Key elements of this hotel chic aesthetic include:

  • Color Palette: Calm, muted shades such as beige, deep blue, gray, and warm gold or bronze for a serene, luxurious feel.
  • Materials: Premium selections like marble, velvet, brass, and dark wood.
  • Furniture: Elegant, custom pieces with smooth lines and rich upholstery.
  • Lighting: Stylish fixtures in brass or gold that cast warm, soft light.
  • Accessories: Art, decorative cushions, and textures that add sophistication and a personal touch.

Design Presentation

The design presentation was a resounding success with our client, evoking a strong emotional response. A single adjustment was made to the dining area carpet selection, resolved with an alternative that fully met their expectations. Using 3D renderings and product samples, we ensured the concept was entirely clear and in harmony with the client’s vision.

A subsequent ‘shopping day’ was organized to finalize all choices with selected suppliers.

Execution

The realization is now underway, and the total vision is gradually taking shape. This phase is always a cherished moment, watching the concept unfold and come to life. Photos of the completed project will be shared in the ‘Projects’ section following the final touches and a photoshoot.
